Splatoon 3 Patch 5.0.0 brings a platter of levels, weapons, and tweaks
Take a slurp of some extreme H2Whoa.
Nintendo is reminding us that Autumn is just around the corner in the Northern Hemisphere with Splatoon 3’s 5.0.0 update, which they have named Drizzle Season 2023. It’s an exciting load of content that will help round out the game’s content.
As with every change of seasons, the Drizzle Season 2023 arrives with a new catalog. This contains new gear, titles, banners, decorations, stickers, and emotes. There are also two new levels being dropped, Crableg Capital and Shipshape Cargo Co. Both of these are brand new to the series. For Salmon Run, Nintendo is bringing back the beloved Salmonid Smokeyard from Splatoon 2. On top of these are two brand new weapons: the Heavy Edit Splatling and Dread Wringer (Slosher). There are also eight new weapon variants.
It gets better, though. Lovers of the soundtrack will be happy to hear that a new fictional band has been added to the mix. This one is H2Whoa, which sounds like a fictional brand of bottled water. Two of their tracks are being added to battles, as well as another by Deep Cut.
Finally, the ability to adjust certain gear has been added in patch 5.0.0. This simply allows you to turn some caps backward or wear oversized versions of certain t-shirts. It’s a pretty great way to get some personalization out of existing gear.
The Splatoon 3 patch 5.0.0 (Drizzle Season 2023) is available to download right now on Switch. The new season starts September 1, 2023.

This update focuses on adding features for Drizzle Season 2023, which starts in September, and adjusting the balance of battles.
For battles, we’ve added new main weapons, powered up some special weapons, and made adjustments to certain weapons and gear abilities.
For special weapons, we’ve made adjustments to improve usability, and we’ve improved the Zipcaster in particular to make it easier to use in close-quarter fights while active.
Our next update is planned for the middle of Drizzle Season 2023 and should primarily focus on balance adjustments.
