A horse in southern Indiana needed a whole crew of people to rescue him Tuesday night.

According to a Facebook post from Monroe Township Fire Department, it happened just after 9 p.m. at Wilcox Lake in Scott County.

They said a horse named Arlo had been spooked and ran off into the night. He ended up in a muddy trap area on the back of the lake.

They said Arlo fell on his side and sank all the way up to his neck in mud and water.

The MTFD crew had to use a variety of equipment including backboards, webbing, straps, rope and a power winch line to free the horse.

After he was freed, MTFD said in the post that Arlo got up under his own power and ate some food before posing for a phot with his rescuers.

“We are all thankful that he was found in time and is now doing fine,” the post said.
